Students of the Year Honored

At a Kiwanis Recognition Event June 10, The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and The Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association recognized Kayla Yuckel and Molly Rodriguez, both of Old Forge, as the Town of Webb Students of the Year for 2012-13.

Kayla is the daughter of Randy and Tina Yuckel and Molly the daughter of Jorge and Linda Rodriguez. Kayla and Molly are seniors at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge.

Carmen Mastroianni, Committee Co-Chairperson, presented a Certificate and a Check for $500 to Molly and Officer Kevin Birtle, President of the Police Benevolent Association, presented a Certificate and a Check for $500 to Kayla. The students made brief presentations extending their thanks and regarding their future plans.

Carmen and Kevin extended their sincere appreciation to John Swick, K-12 Principal of Town of Webb School, Kandis Griffin, School Counselor, Diane Amos, Key Club Advisor and the entire Town of Webb School Administration for all their effort and cooperation in this excellent student recognition program. Carmen also thanked Kevin and the PBA for all that they do for the children of our community, especially the Kommunity Youth and Activity Center (KYAC).

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks, with the cooperation of the Town of Webb Union Free School, initiated the Student of the Month/Year recognition program, for the school year 2007-08, for seniors at the school. This is the third year that the PBA has partnered with Kiwanis in the program.

The selection criteria for the Kiwanis Student of the Month/Year are Community Service, Academics, Athletic Involvement, Student Need and Extra Curricular Activities.

Students of the month for the 2012 - 2013 school year were September, Kayla Yuckel; October, Colin Criss; November, Lexie Haehl; December, Ali McCumber; January, Danielle Gibbs; February, Hanson Schmid; March, Molly Rodriguez; and April, Lauren Holt.
