2022-23 First Lady's Project

The First Lady's Project, which promotes literacy among children, has three components:

Little Free Library

Each club in the district needs to install a Little Free Library in their area.

It can either be built from a kit from the Little Free library (which is now a partner with KI) or build one themselves and register with Little Free Library. More information on Little Free Library is available on its web site.

First Lady Helene Harris

Someone from the club needs to be the steward for the project and make sure that the library is replenished and up to date.

Book Collection for Kamp

This year at the Mid-Winter Conference, we will be collecting two books for the camp. "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio, and "Somebody Loves you, Mr. Hatch" by Elieen Spinelli and Paul Yalowitz. The books will be collected at Friday night's party.

Reading to Children

During the year each club, member, and division will take pictures of themselves reading to someone else, for example, child, grandchild, community event or school. The pictures then will be sent in for a slideshow at the 2024 Mid-Winter.
