Recently North Amityville Kiwanis assisted their corporate member (the Dominican Village Senior Residence) with their Veterans' luncheon.
North Amityville Kiwanis, in union with "Stars for the Troops," cuts out stars from old flags and places them in plastic envelopes with the following poem. We do this to encourage our military and veterans and to remind our fellow citizens to remember our military. These were presented to each and every one of the 300 veterans and guests as well as being sent back to the American Legion posts.
Here is the text accompanying the stars: "I am part of our American flag that has flown over the USA. I can no longer fly. The sun & winds have caused me to become tattered and torn. Please carry me as a reminder to our military that you are not forgotten. Donated by N. Amityville Kiwanis"
