Working with members from the East Meadow Kiwanis Club, the K-Kids of Bowling Green and Meadowbrook Elementary Schools, the Builders Clubbers of WT Clarke Middle School and the Key Clubbers of East Meadow and WT Clarke High Schools divided donated food into baskets for delivery to 114 needy families. The Easter/Passover food baskets were delivered by Kiwanis Club members to the families identified by school social workers and outreach personnel from the community’s churches and temples.

This triannual project is conducted by the East Meadow Kiwanis Club prior to the Thanksgiving, Christmas/Hanukah and Easter/Passover holidays.

The delivery and sorting are the final activities of a service project that begins weeks before each holiday when the Kiwanians and SLP members stand outside the local Waldbaum’s asking for donations of nonperishable items. Collecting food were the Bowling Green K-Kids, the WT Clarke Builders, the Woodland Builders, the East Meadow High School Key Clubbers, the WT Clarke Key Clubbers as well as the East Meadow Kiwanians.

"This project epitomizes the best of K-family relations and community service. The K-Kids, Builders and Key Clubbers work hand in hand with their Kiwanis Sponsors. Together, we serve the needs of our local community at it most fundamental. We feed the hungry," explained, Service Leadership Chair LtG-Designate Rich Santer.
