Governor

We as Kiwanians, have the opportunity to show our communities that the New York District of Kiwanis is strong and here to help with those in need.
Having the honor of being governor and leading our district is something that I take very seriously. There have been countless Zoom calls with leaders in our district and beyond, phone calls to club presidents and meeting people in person with all the proper protocols in place to be physically distant.
By now, all members should have received the link to fill out a simple survey on Survey Monkey. Please make your voice heard, and fill out the survey. After the results are in, the results will be posted to the district website.
Youth protection is our concern always. Make sure that your club and division has done their youth protection training.  This year, there are new training modules. October is Youth Protection month, why not have a program for your club that will get all your members trained in this important effort.
My Governor's Project this year is disaster relief. Whether your club chooses to collect food for your community's food bank, make a kit for our disaster relief efforts as a district, or participate in training for emergency situations, it will help our communities and beyond. For more details on the Governor's Project please use the pull down menu under 2020-21 year on the district web site and  click on Governor's Project.
In the past six months, we have gotten more accustomed to using virtual meeting formats to have meetings, do training, and even socializing. We have had new clubs formed completely on line, and have added new members to our rosters, this will continue to be an option. Having in-person contact is never going to be replaced by virtual, but it's a wonderful way to stay in contact, when meeting in person is impossible.
The Class of 2020/21 Lt. Governors chose the team name of the Illuminators. Our vision statement is:

We will shine the light on the path to the future, lead our district to achieve our goals for service, membership and improving our district, one community, one child at a time.

I urge all of you to be open minded and forward thinking as to how to grow and enhance our district.
Remember, BE KIND, LOOK FOR JOY IN ALL YOU DO, and BE THE LIGHT IN SOMEONE'S LIFE!!
