Legion of Merit/Legion of Honor

In recognition of service, clubs in the New York District may honor their members who have completed 5, 10, 15, and 20 years with LEGION OF MERIT lapel pins and/or certificates. The cost for each pin is $5.95. Certificates are $1. Shipping is an additional $3. Checks should be made payable to New York District of Kiwanis. The order form for 2018-19 can be found at the district website. Go to the heading that says DISTRICT - Forms, Documents - Legion of Merit Order Form or use this URL https://www.kiwanis-ny.org/1819/legionofmerit.pdf. Please allow enough time for the order to be filled and mailed to meet your club deadline. The form asks for 4 weeks, but in most cases, orders are filled within a week. Forms may be mailed to Susan Smith, 4698 N. 5th St., Lewiston, NY 14092 or scanned and emailed to soozuncary@gmail.com. Payment must accompany the order. If you have questions, you may call (716) 754-4548.
New York does not offer recognition beyond 20 years. For Kiwanians who have completed 25 years or more, the club should contact the shop at Kiwanis International. Please note that Kiwanis International does not require the years to be consecutive and the years may be accumulated in more than one club. LEGION OF HONOR certificates and pins are also offered in 5 year increments. A member is eligible for each when he or she is within six months of reaching that milestone. The lapel pins cost $12.75 and certificates, if ordered with a pin, are $2.75 plus shipping. Along with the individual's name and years of service, the highest club office held by the member will be required for the order. Allow 2 to 3 weeks to fill the custom order. Orders may be customized by clicking on the appropriate items at https://store.kiwanis.org/search.html?search=legion+of+honor. Telephone orders are not accepted for personalized printed items, but the store number is 1-800-KIWANIS, ext, 411# if you have questions.
Presentation of these awards can be a memorable moment for the recipient and his or her fellow Kiwanians. Appropriate occasions include the anniversary of the club's founding, a special club event, or at the conclusion of the administrative year.
