In April, the K-Kids of the New York District finished the 2012-13 service year with a multitude of accomplishments. As a District, we chartered six new K-Kids clubs adding more than 220 to our membership count and raising our total clubs to 62.

We also had our largest number of entries in the K-Kids contests and awards. Congratulations to all our clubs that won medals at the district level. They are:

We were also excited to learn that the Bowling Green K-Kids won a $10,000 IKEA Life Improvement Challenge Grant. The K-Kids used more than $8,000 from the grant to purchase furniture, equipment and supplies for the new Library and Art Center at Kamp Kiwanis, $1,200 to feed needy families in their home community and $1,000 was donated to the New York District Kiwanis Foundation’s Emergency Relief Fund to assist tornado victims in the Texas-Oklahoma District.

We would also like to congratulate all the clubs that continue to support KIF's Eliminate Project as well as the New York District's Kiwanis charities.

Finally, we wish all of the graduating members success as they move up to Middle School or Junior High School. We hope that you will stay involved in the K-Family by joining Builders Club. If your new school doesn't have a Builders Club, be the club builder and get one started.

Thanks to all the K-Kids Faculty Advisors and Kiwanis Advisors for their roles in making the 2012-2013 service year a huge success. We look forward to an even better 2013-14 service year.
