At a recent meeting, the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks recognized Diane Amos for her outstanding efforts as Town of Webb School Key Club Advisor.
Bob Baker, Kiwanis Key Club Representative introduced Ms. Amos and presenting her with a plaque recognizing her accomplishments. "We could not have a more dedicated and caring person to work with the Key Club members at Town of Webb School. In addition, each year when we hold our FREE Car Wash to raise funds for Key Club and Kiwanis Diane is always there and works harder than everyone else," he said.
Key Club Advisor Diane Amos, a Kiwanis member and Teacher of Family and Consumer Science at the school stated, "With 70 members this year we have a very successful year under way. Last year the kids contributed 2,048 community service hours and as of the end of December, we were at 815 hours. More than half the members achieving over 30 community service hours. Our students participate in many school activities, besides academics. They make the time to help others and the community. They have grown in many ways, such as taking responsibilities seriously and caring for their community."
During the year Key Club and Central Adirondack Kiwanis Club, participate in many joint events. Some events were community service events such as ringing the bell to raise funds for The Salvation Army, wrapping gifts for the Kiwanis Christmas for Kids project. Some events were fund raising events such as the annual FREE Car Wash to raise funds for operation of Key Club and Kiwanis, the Kiwanis ONE Day project to raise funds for operation of the Kommunity Youth and Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge and the annual Kiwanis Winter Sports Challenge also to raise funds for KYAC.
Key Club representatives from the Central Adirondack Kiwanis Club are Bob Baker of Inlet and Anne Thornton of Big Moose, they commented, "You could not ask for a nicer group of young adults -- it is has been our pleasure to work with the students as well as their outstanding school advisor, Diane Amos. They are a fabulous part of our community."
