History was made on May 21 by the chartering of a new Kiwanis K-Kids Club at PS 205, a Giordano School in the Bronx.
Sponsored by Fordham Kiwanis, the club is a first for the Bronx Westchester South Division.
The new members received their certificates and charter from 2012-13 Kiwanis International President Tom DeJulio who was assisted by Fordham Kiwanians Rosemary DeJulio, Advisor Susan Brucculeri, Distinguished Past President Joy Freeman, next year's club treasurer Claudia Parone, and current club president Grant Grastorf.
Also present were several parents, school administrators, and New York District K-Kids Administrator Mickie Leamey, who distributed special New York District pins and made a promise for more K-Kids clubs to be formed in the Bronx.
"Fordham is proud to sponsor this Service Leadership club for fourth graders and inspire them to volunteer for worthy charities," stated Grastorf.
The new club's formation reflects next year's Kiwanis International theme, "Our Children, Their Future".
