For this holiday season, the Amityville Kiwanis club members were busy buying and storing turkeys to be delivered to schools and churches in our community.
The club supplies much needed items to our local food pantry every month throughout the year, but the holidays are special -- a little extra is needed to help as many families as we can. And club members step up.
On Monday, 15 food baskets with all the trimmings for a Thanksgiving meal were delivered to one of our local elementary schools.
Each basket was packed with mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn, green beans, apple juice, cereal, and cookies. And just in case we forgot something, a gift card to a local supermarket was included. And a turkey, of course!
