On May 23 the Kiwanis Club of Penfield-Perinton hosted a Key Club Recognition Night where we celebrated the graduating seniors.

Club members were able to learn about the seniors, who also learned that their Kiwanis service does not need to end when high school does.  They learned about Circle K, which they can research their colleges, and several said, "well if there isn't we will have to start one".

The group explained their most favorite project was visiting the Rochester International Academy, which is a school for refugees.  The Penfield School District held a book drive in honor of a former teacher and took the books collected to the school.  They were able to read to the students and hear about their home countries.

Rae Hermans told about a Kindergarten student who had just arrived in Rochester and it was his second day, the only way the teachers were able to communicate with him was through the help of another student who spoke the same language.  But the best part was when he received a book to take home which was in his native language.
