Approximately 40 Norwood Kiwanis K-Kids from Norwood-Norfolk Central School, joined Kiwanis members at their dinner meeting on Feb. 6, accompanied by their faculty and club advisors, Lee Mittelstaedt and Gabrielle Martineau.

Norwood K-Kids held a "Holiday Dress Up" fundraiser with students and faculty from pre-Kindergarten through fourth grade donating to the project. For the second year in a row, K-Kids designated that the proceeds be given to Wounded Warriors Outdoor Adventures. K-Kids were proud and excited to present their donation to Wounded Warrior Outdoor Adventures board members, Juddy Plumb and Eric Sweet. WWOA is a local non-profit, volunteer group that strives to provide outdoor adventures at no cost to wounded warriors, battle buddies, veterans and their families. They host hunting, fishing and boating events primarily in Northern New York, as well as others throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The guest speaker for the evening was U.S. Army veteran Dennis Jeffers. Along with his service dog, BoBo, Mr. Jeffers explained how service dogs are trained to assist with the specific and unique needs of each veteran. Mr. Jeffers and BoBo demonstrated to the children the various ways BoBo assists him with routine tasks. The K-Kids thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and enthusiastically asked questions.
