At a Kiwanis recognition event June 8 at Van Aukens Inn in Thendara, the Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and The Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association recognized October 2015 Student of the Month Mara Gaffney of Old Forge, and January 2016 Student of the Month Melissa Rockhill of Woodgate, as the Town of Webb School Students of the Year for 2015-16.
    
Mara is the daughter of Michael and Loretta Gaffney of Old Forge, and Melissa is the daughter of William Rockhill of Woodgate, and Nancy Rockhill of Old Forge. Mara and Melissa are seniors at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge.

Ray Schoeberlein, committee co-chair, presented a certificate and a check for $500 to Mara and Officer Kevin Birtle, president of the Police Benevolent Association, presented a certificate and a check for $500 to Melissa. The students made brief presentations extending their thanks and discussed their future plans.

Ray and Kevin extended their appreciation to John Swick, K-12 principal of Town of Webb School, Kandis Griffin, school counselor; and Diane Amos, Key Club advisor, and the entire Town of Webb School Administration for all their effort and cooperation in this excellent student recognition program.

The selection criteria for the Kiwanis Student of the Month/Year are community service, academics, athletic involvement, student need and extra curricular activities.
