Students of the Year Announced

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks is pleased to announce that, as a result of a partnership with The Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association (PBA), there are two Students of the Year for 2015-16.

Mara Gaffney of Old Forge, Student of the Month for October 2015, and Melissa Rockhill of Woodgate, Student of the Month for January 2016, have been chosen as Students of the Year for 2015-16.

Mara is the Kiwanis Student of the Year and Melissa is the Town of Webb Police Benevolent Association Student of the Year.

Mara is the daughter of Michael and Loretta Gaffney of Old Forge and Melissa is the daughter of William Rockhill of Woodgate and Nancy Rockhill of Old Forge. Mara and Melissa are Senior students at Town of Webb Union Free School in Old Forge.

Mara and Melissa will be recognized at the Kiwanis Recognition Event on Sunday, June 5. They will each receive an Award Certificate and $500 Scholarship to be used for further education. The event will be at 5:30 p.m. and the public is invited.

The selection criteria for the Kiwanis Student of the Month/Year are Community Service, Academics, Athletic Involvement, Student Need and Extra Curricular Activities.
