The Kiwanis Clubs in the Hudson River West Division held their Fifth Annual Kiwanis Family Walk for Hunger on April 16th. Participants included Kiwanis Club members and their families and friends from Middletown, Minisink, Chester, Monticello, Woodridge, Callicoon and Shawangunk, as well as members of the Key, Builders and K-Kids Clubs. In addition, the Aktion Clubs of Orange and Sullivan Counties also participated.

The walk sites were Shannen Park in Orange County, Mountaindale's Rails to Trails and Callicoon's Girl Scout Trail in Sullivan County and Berme Road Park in Ulster County.

The walks benefitted the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, the United Way of Sullivan County and several local food banks in the Hudson River West Division. Over 1200 pounds of food was collected as well as $2,000 in monetary donations.  Every dollar donated to the Food Bank provides four meals to a person in need.

Kiwanis Hudson River West Lieutenant Governor Barbara Ewanciw stated that everyone enjoyed a pleasant walk, camaraderie, good food and a wonderful feeling of fulfillment at the end of the event knowing that they have helped with the battle against hunger.
