On Nov. 1, 2015, the New York City Marathon once again saw Staten Island's Brighton, Staten Island, Kiwanis Club at the forefront of the race, playing a vital role in ensuring an orderly beginning to the largest marathon in the world. Linking arms, and this year working with the U.S. Army, the Kiwanians led the first wave of runners to the starting line.
With more than 50,000 runners, and with people from over 130 countries participating, anticipation and nervousness were evident in many languages.
After the first wave, the Kiwanians led the next three waves to the start and ensured that all the participants enjoyed being a part of racing's biggest spectacle.
