The Kiwanis Club of Huntington has a booth at the Long Island Fall Festival in Huntington each year.
This year the club gave away children's books as a way to get children and their grown-ups to stop at our booth so that we could tell them about Kiwanis, and hopefully interest them in sponsoring a flag for our Field of Honor.
One of our members has collected children's books from various church fairs and a local thrift shop for a number of years, distributing them free to a local clinic, Head Start, and Kamp Kiwanis, and we thought that bringing books to the Festival might be a good addition to our booth this year.
With a sign that said "The books are free. Donations accepted" we collected $225 in donations.
