On Sept. 10 members of Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks and One Square Mile of Hope (OSMH) volunteers provided two teams to participate in the 21st Annual Calypso Cove Charity Go-Kart Race sponsored by the Noonan Family and Enchanted Forest Water Park. This event has been a Central Adirondack special event since 1994 and has raised more than $200,000 for local charities.

This year Central Adirondack Kiwanis is a sponsoring partner for the One Square Mile of Hope attempt to return the Guinness World Record for a "Largest Raft of canoes and kayaks" to Inlet, NY by exceeding the 2,099 record set last year in Michigan. It is expected that the event will raise more than $100,000 for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and other local charities.

Kiwanis volunteers helping with cooking and serving of the food include  Jim Connerty, Ray Schoeberlein, Fred and Carolyn Trimbach, Linda Kurtz, Mike Griffin and Bob Van Slyke.
