The Kiwanis Club of Kingston in concert with the Kiwanis District Governor's project on autism awareness is working locally with the Center of Spectrum Services on Kukuk Lane in Kingston to provide both volunteer and financial support.

On Aug. 7 Kiwanis volunteers  helped support the centers Water Fun Day by serving ice cream sundaes to the autistic children.  Ice cream was provided by Micky's Igloo East Chester Street in Kingston.

Additionally, Kingston Kiwanis presented Spectrum Services with a check for $500 to support a Community Build event that will take place in September that will focus in replacing playground equipment to meet the current playground safety requirements as well as equipment designed for autistic children.

The new playgrounds will provide safe, age appropriate outdoor play environments for the students with autism spectrum disorders.
