Distinguished Past Gov. Joseph Corace welcomed Emma Capron and her brother, Hugo Capron, to Coney Island on July 7. Also present was Distinguished Past Lt. Gov. Ed (Woody) Ryder.
Emma and Hugo are two of the three children of French Kiwanian Marc Capron, who is a member of Kiwanis at La Roche-sur-Yon, in the Vendee region of France.
On July 7, Corace treated the French citizens to a Coney Island lunch at Nathan’s followed by a baseball game featuring the Brooklyn Cyclones.
Marc Capron had reached out to the District Office, inquiring if there were any New York Kiwanians who take in French students during portions of the summer. Past Gov. Justin Underwood referred him to Joyce and Woody Ryder who are members of the Kiwanis Club of Oyster Bay/East Norwich. Hugo and Emma stayed with the Ryders from July 3-14.
