Finger Lakes Spring Fling Supports Kamp, Children's Center

On April 5, more than 120 Finger Lakes Kiwanians and guests ate, danced (music provided by Disc Jockey and Lt. Gov.-Designate Phil Alamond), played games of chance and bid on an outstanding array of prizes. But most importantly, they raised money to help children. The Spring Fling event was a success and the credit belongs to the members of the Finger Lakes Kiwanis clubs whose support made it happen.

Our first goal in having the event was to provide a venue where members of all the clubs in the division could come together in a spirit of camaraderie and fellowship. Another goal was to raise money for Division-wide initiatives, i.e. Golisano Children's Hospital and Kamp Kiwanis. Both these goals were met in an outstanding manor.

Due to the generosity of those in attendance, four additional campers will be going to Kamp Kiwanis and approximately $3,000 will be added to our donations to Golisano Children's Hospital. Clubs will receive credit for their donation based upon the number of tickets sold by the club.

The Spring Fling Committee has already started planning for the 2015 Fling. If you or your members have some suggestions on how to improve the event, the committee would be interested in hearing them. Also please advise all your members of the success of our first Spring Fling, it is something that everyone in the Division should take pride in.

The Spring Fling Committee members were Marianne Gallagher, Jim Paduchowski, John Hanratty, Dick McDermott, David Wolf, Phil Alamond, Bonnie Jacobus and Lt. Gov. Dave Jacobus.
