Swimming Pool

In the early years, Kampers swam in the man-made pond at the Kamp. More stringent health requirements meant a pool was necessary, and the first one was built in 1976. Kiwanians from around the district sold 260,000 giant coloring books, raising $26,000 for the District Foundation, more than enough to pay the $20,000 cost of the pool.

The pool, which was dedicated Aug. 2, 1976, is shown above in a picture taken in 1997.

The aging of the pool meant that it needed to be replaced. A generous donation from the family of Pete Haller provided the funding for the new pool, which was open in time for the 2002 Kamping season. The pool, built in the same location as the 1976 one, was named Pete's Pool in Haller's honor. To learn more about Peter Haller and the pool, go to the Pete's Pool page.

Many other improvements have been made in the pool area over the years. About 1988 a water heater was added so that senior campers who visited the camp during the last week in June, "Senior Week", could also make use of the pool.

More information is available on the Bath House and covered patio at the pool.
