New Club in Westbury

The third new club of the year was formed on July 26 in Westbury, Long Island.

Congratulations goes out to Long Island North Lt. Gov. Kathy Levinson, New Club Opener Past Lt. Gov. Jerry Rudnick and District Secretary Rich Hall for a successful organization meeting. The club was formed with 15 members.

The Charter President is Cynthia Sanatassa and the Charter Secretary is Kathy Levinson. The club will be meeting the second and fourth Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at the Harvest Diner, Old Country Road in Westbury.

The club sponsors are the Port Washington-Manhasset and Glen Cove Kiwanis Clubs. Rudnick built the Glen Cove Kiwanis Club during 1999-2000, and also built the Floral Park Kiwanis Club in 2015. Levinson and Hall will serve as New Club Counselors to the newly formed club. Charter Night will be scheduled for late September or early October.

This is the 17th new club built in the district since the Formula program began in October 2014, which placed the New York District second in the most clubs built among the 28 North American districts.

Massapequa Wins Silver

Kiwanis International has awarded the Kiwanis Club of Massapequa a Silver award in its Signature Project Recognition Program.

The award was announced July 14 at the Kiwanis International Convention in Paris.

Massapequa was honored for its drug abuse awareness effort. All Kiwanis districts submitted entries for the recognition; Massapequa, as the New York District's nominee, was one of 11 which were selected as finalists.

Signature projects show the impact a Kiwanis club can have on a community. From playgrounds and parks to festivals and fundraisers, signature projects are the hallmarks of what Kiwanis clubs are known for in their communities.

A full list of district submissions is available.
