The New York District uses both the Empire State Kiwanian, its print publication, and this web site to communicate with Kiwanians in the district regarding club, division and district news as well as events involving the Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs.
Information submitted for publication will be evaluated and made available to District Kiwanians in the most efficient way possible. Often that will mean that it will be posted here on the District Web Site. Web Site postings are available without delay to help sponsors promote upcoming events or report on events after they are over.
Unlike the Empire State Kiwanian, where space constraints and timing issues may affect publication, the web site can accommodate any volume of information and can be updated at any time.
Information is selected for publication in the Empire State Kiwanian, which is mailed to the home of each district Kiwanian, based on its importance and its value in alerting members to upcoming events they might want to attend.
Clubs and divisions are encouraged to submit information on their service projects and fund raising events. Activities involving Service Leadership Organizations are welcome as well. Some items, such as officer installations and new member inductions, are better suited for a club web site or newsletter than a district publication.
The preferred method of submitting information is by e-mail; the address is given below.
Important points:
- Include all the information that will be needed to explain the event.
- Identify the people in the pictures, being careful to spell the names correctly.
- Send photos as e-mail attachments, not placed in a word processing document.
- Picture sizes don't matter, but they need to be of sufficient quality to be used.
If you wish to submit a printed photograph, mail it to the address below. Pictures taken from newspapers or photocopies of photographs will not be of acceptable quality. Do not write on the back of the pictures.
All submissions will be edited for style, grammar and spelling. Pictures will be selected based on quality and their contribution to telling the story and will be cropped to best advantage.
A submission form is available that can be used for a postal mail submission if you wish.
Submissions can be made to:
